Zero
Introduction
Zero is a unique card game blending elements from both blackjack and baccarat. The aim of the game is to secure victory by achieving a point total closer to 0 than that of the dealer’s.
Introduced at the Golden Nugget in August 2011, Zero presents an intriguing twist on traditional card gaming, offering players a fresh and engaging experience.
Shortened Rules
- Played with 6 or 8 standard 52-card decks, Golden Nugget uses 6 decks.
- Point system mirrors baccarat: Tens and face cards = 0, aces = 1, and cards 2 through 9 are face value. Hand total is last digit of card sum.
- Player starts with a Zero wager.
- Player gets two face-up cards, dealer gets one face-up, one face-down.
- If player’s first two cards total 0 (Zero Pair), player wins automatically (3 to 2 payout).
- Without a Zero Pair, player options are: Stand, Hit (draw third card), Double down (additional wager equal to original), or Split (additional wager for two cards totaling 8 or 9 points).
- Dealer reveals hole card, draws if total is 5+, hits again at 3-card total of 5+. Dealer must stand on a four-card hand.
- Dealer compares totals to player’s: Player wins if lower, receives even money on wager and double down. Player loses if dealer’s total is lower. Equal totals result in a push.
